Il 2020 ci ha posto davanti scenari che mai avremmo creduto possibili, un virus si è insidiato nelle vite di tutti noi, in maniera diversa da persona a persona, ma in ogni caso sconvolgente, costringendo ogni singola persona, ogni paese e ogni stato a prendere decisioni e precauzioni sino ad ora impensabili. Ci è stato chiesto ed imposto una chiusura totale di confini, di attività e di ogni singola vita, facendoci ritrovare in un modo o in un altro alienati e isolati nelle nostre case.

La tecnologia si è rivelata l’unico mezzo in nostro possesso per continuare ad intrecciare la nostra vita con quella dei nostri cari, per unirci e sentirci meno soli.

Ma cosa succede se si desidera, non solo continuare a sentire le persone che già facevano parte della nostra vita prima dell’emergenza ma conoscerne di nuove?

E’ ciò che abbiamo provato a capire noi: Ilaria Lagioia e Valentina De Santis.

Accomunate da un’ammirazione reciproca ma effettivamente sconosciute l’un l’altra, abbiamo condotto un esperimento all’apparenza involontario, iniziato qualche giorno dopo il lockdown, caratterizzato da uno scambio di e-mail. Fotografie e lettere si sono così susseguite per quasi cinquanta giorni come un vero e proprio “botta e risposta”.

Un modo per esorcizzare il tempo che abbiamo passato nelle nostre case, una a Roma e una ad Artena (comune della provincia romana). Ci siamo raccontate e scoperte giorno per giorno tramite i nostri scatti, pensati e ricercati, o anche capitati, e le nostre parole. In un susseguirsi di impressioni, ricordi, suggestioni e desideri abbiamo provato a raccontare l’un l’altra non solo i momenti che stavamo vivendo, ma anche ciò che abbiamo vissuto, i nostri ricordi.

Incorrispondenti vuole essere un racconto di vite che volontariamente si incontrano, di fotografie che volontariamente vengono donate reciprocamente, non solo per alleviare la situazione difficile dell’isolamento ma soprattutto per avere un buon motivo per rincontrarsi presto.

2020 has placed scenarios in front of us that we would never have believed possible, a virus has seized the lives of all of us, in a different way from person to person, but in any case shocking, forcing every single person, every country and every state to take hitherto unthinkable decisions and precautions. We have been asked and imposed a total closure of borders, activities and every single life, making us find ourselves in one way or another alienated and isolated in our homes.

Technology has proven to be the only means in our possession to continue to intertwine our lives with that of our loved ones, to unite and feel less alone.

But what if you want, not only to continue to hear the people who were already part of our life before the emergency but to know new ones?

This is what we have tried to understand: Ilaria Lagioia and Valentina De Santis.

Shared by mutual admiration but actually unknown to each other, we conducted an apparently involuntary experiment, started a few days after the lockdown, characterized by an exchange of e-mails. Photographs and letters followed each other for almost fifty days as a real “hit and answer”.

A way to exorcise the time we spent in our homes, one in Rome and one in Artena (municipality of the Roman province). We told each other day after day through our shots, thought and researched, or even happened, and our words. In a succession of impressions, memories, suggestions and desires, we tried to tell each other not only the moments we were experiencing, but also what we lived, our memories.

Incorrispondenti wants to be a story of lives that voluntarily meet, of photos that are voluntarily donated to each other, not only to alleviate the difficult situation of isolation but above all to have a good reason to meet again soon.
